Not spectators.
Not complainers.
Not people waiting for a red carpet.
An army of warriors, builders, finishers, givers, intercessors, and disciples.
When Israel came out of Egypt, they did not leave empty-handed. They asked their neighbours for silver and gold, and the Lord gave them favour. They plundered Egypt (Ex 3:21–22; Ex 12:35–36). The silver and the gold belong to God (Hagg 2:8). Power belongs to God (Ps 62:11). The power to get wealth belongs to God (Deut 8:18).
But Wealth must Serve the Will of God
Jesus said, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matt 22:21). There are natural responsibilities and spiritual responsibilities. Faith does not excuse disorder. Faith produces obedience.
Faith without works is dead (Jam 2:17).
LICU is called LifeStyle because the Word must be lived, not just heard. We are called to be doers of the Word, not hearers only (Jam 1:22). The road is narrow, but God’s Word is still a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (Ps 119:105).
No one Gets a Red Carpet into Destiny
God is in control. All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28). And His purpose is not small. Romans 8:29 says that those He foreknew, He also predestined “to be conformed to the image of his Son.” God is forming sons, daughters, disciples, and warriors into the image of Christ.
Jeremiah 29:11 declares that God knows the plans He has for us, plans for welfare and not evil, to give us a future and a hope. We must see the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end. We are called to be good finishers, not just good starters.
Everything must Stand on the Rock, not on the Emotions of Men
Jesus is the Rock of Ages. Paul said that Israel drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them in the wilderness, “and that Rock was Christ” (1 Cor 10:4). If the work is not built on Christ, it will not stand. If the vision is not rooted in Him, it will not last.
Nehemiah understood this. When Sanballat and Tobiah mocked, taunted, and resisted the rebuilding of the wall, Nehemiah did not stop the work. He stationed the people by families. They built with a trowel in one hand and a sword in the other (Neh 4:13–17).
That is the Kingdom Pattern:
Build and battle.
Pray and act.
Believe and obey.
Stand in faith and put your hand to the work.
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn” (Isa 54:17).
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. We condemn the negative word, the slander, the accusation, and the voice of intimidation. But we also refuse to become the source of gossip, murmuring, and complaint. We must not let our good be evil spoken of (Rom 14:16). Those who complain remain. Israel murmured in the wilderness and opened the door to destruction (Num 21:4–9; 1 Cor 10:10).
God is not Raising Murmurers He is Raising Warriors
In October 1996, on the platform of Pastor George Hooper in Verona, Italy, God spoke very clearly to me saying the following:
“Go from nation to nation, raising up an army of warriors for the end times. This is a new commission, and direction that I am giving unto you. To equip soldiers for the Lord, a prophetic army, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for the glory of God,” (Eph 4:11-13).
This is the Mandate
LICU is a parachurch ministry. It is an equipping ministry. The assignment is rooted in Ephesians 4:11–13: to equip the saints, build the Body of Christ, and bring believers into maturity.
From that commission, LICU has gone forward into 4 continents and 29 different countries. Glory! The vision has crossed borders because God watches over His Word and because faithful people have prayed, given, studied, served, sponsored, and stood.
Preparation is Never Lost Time
“In founding Lifestyle International Christian University, Dr. Alan Pateman has married the moving of the Holy Spirit, and the authority of God’s written Word together. His many years and experience have caused him to be able to lead this university into the 21st century with a relevant edge. I believe the students are participating in the university, will have a healthy balance of the word and the spirit, and the maturity to fulfil their high calling.”
— Roberts Liardon USA
The student is not simply receiving information. The student is being equipped. The sponsor is not simply giving money. The sponsor is helping raise an army.
So let us push through and honour our financial commitments to LICU, especially those students looking to graduate soon. Let us be righteous with our money. Let us not play games with God, with the vision, or with the assignment.
If God gives power to get wealth, then wealth must be stewarded with obedience. If the silver and gold belong to God, then our giving must honour Him. Faith without works is dead, and faith without financial integrity is empty talk.
So the question is simple:
Is God Calling you to be a Sponsor?
Is God calling you to help train a warrior?
Is God calling you to stand with a student?
Is God calling you to sow into a life that will carry the Word and the Spirit into the nations?
The Mission is Clear
We build with the trowel.
We stand with the sword.
We honour God with our faith.
We honour God with our works.
We honour God with our giving.
You are a winner.
You are a warrior.
You are called to finish strong.
God is raising up an army.
The wall is being built and those who labour are not labouring in vain.
We are all winners.
