Dangerously Anointed

Part One: Born of the Spirit (not to blend in) & Marked by Fire!
This message begins a series developed out of studying the life and teachings of Dr Paul Yonggi Cho, and, more importantly, out of prayer. What follows is not theory. It is encounter. It is the foundation for understanding what it truly means to be dangerously anointed.

Sometimes I get overwhelmed. Things do not move quickly enough. But that is not the real issue. The real danger is becoming stale in our relationship with the Lord because of our attitude toward what we are doing. It cannot be all activity. It cannot even be all prayer in a mechanical sense. Everything must flow from intimacy. Without prayer, without constant intimacy, we drift into mental assent. We agree with truth, but we do not live from encounter. Everything must come out of intercession.

This week I found myself praying through Ephesians again, especially chapter one. There is so much there. Paul is not writing theory; he is writing out of relationship.“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened…” (Ephesians 1:17–18 NIV)

That is intercession. That is purpose. Without purpose, without a sense of God in our midst, we simply exist. But we are not called to exist.

The Spirit of Intercession

This week I wept before the Lord. I am glad when He softens me. Some people need to be broken before they can be softened. But we must be softened daily so that we can hear His voice. If you cannot recognise His presence, His touch, His voice, you are operating in your own strength. Jesus said:“Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing…” (John 5:19 NIV)

If Jesus functioned that way, how much more must we? And the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, was sent not merely to comfort, but to teach.“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you” (John 14:26 NIV).

Truth must be applied. And only the Holy Spirit brings truth to life. There is life in the Word, but the Holy Spirit gives it power.

Purpose Over Personal Issues

Many pray but ask amiss. They want God to bless what they want, rather than asking what God wants to bless. Jesus made it clear:“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33 NIV).

Often we serve our insecurities instead of God. We chase answers to personal issues instead of laying them down. Some of us worship our wounds more than we worship the Lord. Dangerously anointed people are not driven by insecurity, they are driven by purpose.

You Must Be Truly Born Again

Before we talk about anointing, we must talk about salvation. Jesus said to Nicodemus: “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again” (John 3:3 NIV). And again: “No one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit” (John 3:5 NIV).

Salvation is not inheritance. It is not family culture. It is not mental agreement. Light must replace darkness. “Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19 NIV).

You cannot be dangerously anointed if you secretly prefer darkness. You must love the light.

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

After salvation comes empowerment.“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven… They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire… All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit…” (Acts 2:1–4 NIV)

Fire. The Holy Spirit is gentle — but powerful. When His fire rests on you, you will not go unnoticed. The anointing does not come quietly. It disturbs.

It disturbed my life when I was filled with the Spirit. Everything changed. It was not just tongues. It was transformation. Light began exposing darkness. And when light increases, darkness reacts.

The Anointing Disturbs

When the anointing comes, it disturbs your comfort, your relationships, your habits, your patterns, your sleep, and even the atmosphere around you. Your presence becomes a threat to darkness. That is not arrogance; that is spiritual reality. You were not created to blend in.

Jeremiah was told:“See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant” (Jeremiah 1:10 NIV).

You cannot build unless something is torn down first, including your old life. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2 NIV). Transformation requires surrender.

The Cost of Being Dangerously Anointed

You will make enemies, sometimes without speaking a word. Atmospheres shift when you enter a room, not because of personality but because of what you carry. The anointing exposes. The anointing separates. The anointing reveals. The anointing provokes resistance. That is not something to fear, but something to steward carefully.

You must stay in the Spirit. If you are insecure, ministry will destroy you. If you seek approval, you will compromise. But if you are rooted in Him, you will endure.

Fire or Frustration

Without the fire of the Spirit, responsibility becomes frustration. Without prayer, calling becomes burden. Without revelation, you will drift back into old thinking. Sin is easy. Prayer requires pursuit. It is easy not to pray. It is easy not to push in. It is easy to live below your calling. But you were chosen for something eternal.

You were not created to blend in. You were created to disrupt, to awaken, to tear down strongholds, and to build what others are afraid to build. You carry divine fire.

A Declaration

This is only the introduction. In the coming parts, we will examine the signs of being dangerously anointed. But for now, understand this: we are not ordinary, not merely existing, but carrying life. Wherever we go, light shines and darkness manifests. Not through striving, but through presence.

Prayer

Father, thank You for Your Word. Thank You that You have called us to be dangerously anointed, not for ego, but for purpose. Empower us by Your Spirit. Let Your light shine through us so that darkness is exposed. Guard us from compromise. Deliver us from insecurity and rejection. Make us walk in Your grace. Especially for those who misunderstand us, increase our compassion. And most importantly make us walk in Your love, the same love that gave itself up for us all.

In Your Mighty and Everlasting Name.
Amen.
